Vintage 1933 Rolls Royce 20/25 Saloon, 'Sir Percy'

Just Dreams Cars are pleased to present our vintage 1933 Rolls Royce named Sir Percy. The Rolls Royce 20/25 Saloon has a long and extensive history and also includes how it became to be named 'Sir Percy'.

This Rolls Royce, Chassis number CRW 15, was built for Sir Percy Loraine in 1932 and shipped to Alexandria for him in 1933. The coachwork is by Park Ward.

This well known diplomat and race horse owner took the car from Egypt to Turkey when he was appointed British Ambassador in late 1933 and on to Rome, where he was Ambassador when Italy entered the Second World War.

At this stage, little is know of what happened to WLH 71 except that for some of the time it was stored in the embassy garages in Rome.

After the war the car was bought by the Navel Attaché to the British Embassy in Roma. Sir Percy Loraine carried out a programme of restoration to the front seat upholstery and roof lining etc. Later, at Britannia Royal Navel College, Dartmouth a complete Chassis/engine strip was carried out, but no work was found to be necessary apart from a thorough cleaning of all stripped parts.

Prior to 1962 this car toured the continent extensively, particularly Italy and Greece.

1933 Rolls Royce recent history...

During the last 20 years this 20/25 hp Rolls Royce has helped nearly 700 happy brides arrive at the church on time.

In between weddings it has conveyed an Air Marshal of Strike Command to his retirement, met people at Heathrow airport from the corners of the earth and taken children to the London Palladium as a special treat.

This vehicle was stripped down to the bare metal and resprayed in dark blue and magnolia/cream. The seats remain the same; with comfortable, old soft leather, thus retaining the aura of originality.
